THE FORMULA

IMG_6826.png

This artwork is entirely AI-generated by easily accessible AI tools, the final object is 3D printed; no human touch until the installation...

My goal was to keep the process without having my hands on it - in the literal way but also I did not want to determine the process and the final piece with my aesthetic taste, my role here was mostly to lead the processual aspect to technical success. I wanted to switch roles with AI, make the AI the creative one and relegate myself simply to a position of the executive. In doing so, I really explored the essence of creativity in general… Is human creativity overestimated? Is human art replaceable? Let's have a look…

I started with one of the most sophisticated AI language tools, which did all the work. As I said, I did not want to overly influence it with my own aesthetic taste and conceptual thoughts, I kept my commands very simple, for example: “Design an artistic jewel. Make it printable on a 3D printer. The design and concept should be suitable for a contemporary jewellery exhibition named “Computer and Jewellery”. Develop a concept and describe the physical appearance in detail, including measures. Do not copy anybody's work.” Of course, the Chatbot first asserted itself as “an artificial intelligence without any capability of designing something” because it has no creative desires of its own, but eventually I continued with various reformulations of the same command until it complied, I manipulated it easily.

 “TEXT TO TEXT>TEXT TO 2D PICTURE> 2D TO 3D MODEL> 3D MODEL TO 3D PRINT”

According to its own concept, the AI language tool also designed a granite plinth for the display, a jewellery box (it even took into account the “unboxing experience”), made product and editorial pictures, and designed a narrator who talks to the audience on the website - the voice, the look, the script, the approach…
